it’s hard to believe

but i’m finally driving. now that all is said and done i really wish i hadn’t waited so long to take my road test. i only passed by one point but it’s such a relief having a license now, as well as car insurance and a car. the test was the scariest fifteen minutes of my whole life, i swear. it started off bad when i tried to make small talk with the overly-proper dps officer. he seemed so pissed when i asked him how his holidays were. right out of the gate the first thing i had to do was parallel park the car right in front of everyone at DPS, including travis. things started out okay until my legs started shaking really bad and i started getting nervous. i ended up parking completely sideways (travis cracking up on the side of the building) and the observer just started laughing and told me we would skip that part of the test. all in all that sweet man was nice enough to pass me with a seventy-one (: i just wish my license picture hadn’t come out so bad :P

today was my first day driving to and from work all on my own (: it went pretty well. this morning my legs were still shaking really bad, but i think it’s just first time jitters. i definitely need to work on my parking, i’m still having a lot of trouble telling when i’m close enough to the curb; that is of course until i hit it.

at work today i finally had the big lunch rush i had been anticipating yesterday. dell reopened now that the holiday season has pretty much come to a close and with the cloudy weather and all it seemed like people had a craving for pho. as hard as this may be to believe, i actually found work to be pretty enjoyable today. it was good getting to see all the usual customers that i haven’t seen in two weeks. i was expecting that we would get our paychecks today, considering that our pay period ended three days ago, but kevin said that they should be in tomorrow. unfortunately i work open to close tomorrow so there’s not going to be any extra time to run to the bank ): oh well. the next big expense i have is getting the brakes on the saab done and i already have money set aside for that. luckily the brakes will be the last thing i have to worry about for awhile (: today after work i took the car to jiffy lube to get the oil changed and have a license plate bulb replaced (50.00; are they crazy!?). the inspection needs to be done in march but i’m crossing my fingers that after i take care of the breaks the rest of the car will pass.

anyways, happy new year to everyone! i’m going to try to keep up with this a bit more this time around (:
